Household canvass 2024

You may have received an email from electoral.services.new.forest.district.council@notifications.service.gov.uk, please be reassured that this is a legitimate contact from us regarding your household canvass and you can follow the instructions held within to respond.

Every year we have to carry out a canvass of electors to ensure our published register is as up to date as possible.

We start this process in July and it will run until November. We will then publish the revised electoral register, with any changes made during the canvass by 1 December 2024.

You need to be on the electoral register to vote in elections. Responding to the canvass form does not mean you are automatically registered.

If you add anyone new to your canvass forms we will send out a registration form. For more information on registering to vote you can visit our register to vote page.

Responding to the canvass

We will make contact with you from July onwards, this will either be via email or a letter through the post.

Please respond online if you can. This will avoid us having to attempt to contact you in an alternative way.

Within the email or letter you receive from us you will find a set of two unique security codes for your property.

You will not be able to respond without your two unique security codes and the postcode for your property.

Email

If we hold an email address for you we will send you an email in July.

The email will come from electoral.services.new.forest.district.council@notifications.service.gov.uk

In this email you will find a link to follow to confirm who is eligible to register to vote at your address.

The email will guide you on how to respond using your access codes online.

Post

If you have opted out of email contact or we do not hold an email address for you we will send you a letter in August.

The letter will guide you on how to respond using your access codes online.
