Completed improvement works to Woodside Park in Pennington

23 December 2024

We have completed improvement works to Woodside Park in Pennington.

The works include new foot paths and boardwalks to establish a new and accessible walking route, a dog training and activity area, and community orchard.

Cllr Derek Tipp, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economy, said: "The completion of works to Woodside Park is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to balance recreational needs with environmental protection.

This project not only provides valuable new facilities for our community, such as accessible walking paths, a dog training area, and a community orchard, but it also plays an important role in preserving the natural beauty of the New Forest.

By offering alternative recreational spaces, we can help reduce the pressure on our sensitive conservation areas, and I look forward to seeing residents and visitors alike enjoy these new amenities."

These works are part of a £1m annual Green Way recreational mitigation programme to improve walking routes and green spaces across the district. This programme is funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which is collected from new residential developments.

The recreational mitigation programme aims to enhance existing recreational spaces across the district, reduce pressure on nearby protected sites, and support local wildlife.
