Have your say: Residents invited to comment on polling station suitability in the New Forest

3 September 2024

We are seeking residents' comments as part of their Polling Districts and Places Review consultation.

The consultation offers an opportunity for residents to provide valuable feedback on the current polling stations and suggest improvements to ensure they meet the needs of all voters.

The Polling Districts and Places Review aims to evaluate the suitability of existing polling stations with a focus on their geographical location, accessibility, and the facilities they provide.

The consultation is open to all residents of the New Forest district, giving everyone a chance to have their say on how local voting facilities can be improved.

Residents are invited to share their comments and suggestions on the council's website by visiting the dedicated consultation page: https://www.newforest.gov.uk/districtsandplacesreview2024.

The deadline for submitting feedback is Sunday 29 September 2024.

We are particularly focused on understanding and addressing the needs of residents with disabilities or mobility challenges. Ensuring that polling stations are fully accessible is a priority for the council, and resident feedback will play a vital role in identifying areas where improvements are needed.

Following the closure of the consultation, all feedback will be carefully reviewed and collated by NFDC. The council will then prepare a comprehensive report detailing any proposed changes, which will be presented at a full Council meeting in December.

For more information about the review process, including a list of current polling places and guidance on how to participate in the consultation, residents can visit our website or in person at our information offices.
