New Hardley Depot building progress continues

17 May 2024

Today (Friday 17 May), we visited Hardley Industrial Site to see progress on building a new depot which will serve the east of the district.

Cllr Jill Cleary, Leader of the Council said: "This wonderful project will transform how we operate some of our key frontline services for the east of the district and provide a more modern and comfortable workplace for our hard-working staff."

"A lot of work and detailed planning has gone into this to ensure the needs of our residents and staff are met. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved, and we look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses."

The new depot will include office units, a vehicle maintenance workshop, vehicle washing facilities, storage, fuelling facilities, and parking for staff and fleet vehicles.

Construction work for Hardley Depot started in early 2024 and is due to be complete by early 2025.

Cllr Geoffrey Blunden, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability said: "It is fantastic to see this new depot taking shape which will provide us with larger, practical, and more modern facilities for recycling and rubbish collections, street cleaning, and open spaces projects."

We're working with Knights Brown on construction for the site. Mike Crook, Divisional Director for Knights Brown, said "We are delighted to be working on the design and build of this fantastic new facility. Being based in Ringwood and with our expertise and knowledge of similar projects, it is a valuable local project to deliver for the NFDC team."

A revised planning application for the depot was approved in February 2023, and can be viewed online.
