If you live in the relevant area the deadline to be registered to vote in this election is Tuesday 30 July 2024.

You must be on our electoral register and live in the relevant area in order to vote in these elections.

You only have to register once unless you have changed your name or moved house. 

Vote by post or proxy

The deadline to apply to vote by post in this election is 5pm Wednesday 31 July 2024

The deadline to nominate a proxy to cast your vote on your behalf is 5pm Wednesday 7 August 2024

If you don't want to vote at the polling station you can either apply to receive your ballot through the post or nominate a proxy to vote on your behalf.

Voter ID information 

The deadline to apply for a free voter authority certificate in order to vote in this election is 5pm Wednesday 7 August 2024

Voters are now required to show a form of photographic ID at polling stations before they are able to cast their vote.

Nominations

We must received your completed nomination papers no later than 4pm on Friday 19 July 2024.

You must return your completed papers by hand to Electoral Services, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA.

We strongly advise that candidates take advantage of an informal check of their papers with one of our team. To arrange a time to come in and see us please contact Electoral Services using the details at the bottom of this page. 

Nominations are provided by the Electoral Commission and all pages must be submitted even if their content is not relevant. 

Campaigning 

We are unable to advise on specifics of your campaign. 

Candidates and agents are advised to read the Electoral Commission guidance on campaigning.

Spending

Spending returns are due back to us no later than Thursday 12 September 2024. You must submit a return even if you did not incur any expenditure.

Candidates are advised to read the Electoral Commission guidance on spending and donations at elections in England. 

Candidates are required by law to limit their spending to £960.00 plus 8 pence for each entry on the electoral register for the relevant area. 

The electorate number for the purpose of calculating spending limits for Fordingbridge at the time of the election is 5109.

You are required by law to complete and return details of spending and donations to us by the deadline and should be returned to Electoral Services at the address below. 

If you did not incur any expenditure, you must submit a Nil return. Please note, no spending will be reimbursed.

Verification and counting of votes

The verification and counting of the votes will take place after the close of poll on Thursday 15 August 2024 and will be held at Fordingbridge Town Hall, 63 High Street, Fordingbridge, SP6 1AS.
