Open space requirements

Saved policy CS7 of the Core Strategy 2009 sets out our standards for the provision of public space. The minimum standard for public open space on new development is 3.5 hectares of public open space provision per 1000 population.

The standard comprises 0.2 hectares per 1000 population of designed play spaces for children and young people, 1.25 hectares of formal recreational space per 1000 population and 2 hectares of informal open space per 1000 population.

If your scheme is for 50 or more dwellings you will have to provide mitigation land on-site in accordance with Policy ENV1 of the Local Plan 2016-2036 Part One: Planning Strategy New Forest District outside the New Forest National Park.
