Appeal our waste container assessment for your property
We have assessed properties in the New Forest district to determine the most suitable waste containers for new waste collections.
We can only provide alternative waste containers, such as sacks, under specific circumstances which meet criteria in our collections policy for the new waste collection service.
Visual property and street assessments have been made and reviewed using a standard set of criteria.
The majority of properties will be suitable for the standard waste containers which include wheelie bins and food waste caddies.
How to appeal
You can appeal the waste containers we have allocated to your property for new waste collections.
We aim to reply within 10 working days. At busy times it may take us a little longer and we apologise for any delays. Please note, we will review all appeals but currently need to prioritise replies for residents in the phase 1 area whose new collections will start from June 2025.
You will need to enter your postcode on the Find out when the new waste collections will start for your household page.
Once you have selected your property, just click on the link at the bottom of the page called 'Appeal our waste container assessment for your property'.
Under the terms of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Section 46, (Environmental Protection Act 1990 ) we have a statutory duty to collect households waste from all domestic properties within the New Forest district and to require residents to place household waste out for collection in designated containers, and separated into specific waste streams.
The introduction of new waste collections has been made to tackle climate change and reduce the environmental impact of waste in the New Forest.
