Check if you need to reapply for your postal vote
2 April 2025
We are encouraging residents to reapply for postal votes.
Following recent changes to the Elections Act, a postal vote will now last for 3 years then residents must reapply. If postal votes were in place before 31 October 2023, residents will need to reapply before it expires on 31 January 2026.
Over the next few months, we will be getting in touch with those affected to let them know what they need to do.
It's quick, easy and secure to reapply. Residents need to fill in their details, including their National Insurance number and upload a signature.
Alternatively, residents can download a paper form from our website, staff at local offices are able to assist if needed, or we can send one in the post.
If residents no longer wish to vote by post, they can send us an email at electoralservices@nfdc.gov.uk with your name and address.
