Residents receive information about new waste collection service
17 March 2025
Residents will soon receive a leaflet in the post containing important information about our new waste collection service.
The leaflets will be included in Council Tax bills from us, which residents will start receiving from Monday 17 March.
Changes to the waste service are being introduced in three phases across three different areas of the district, with the first phase starting this summer.
The latest leaflet includes key details about the new service, including when new waste collections will start for each phase, how residents can check which phase they are in, and what the new bins and caddies will look like.
From June 2025, we will collect recycling and general waste using wheelie bins from phase 1 residents, which includes Brockenhurst, New Milton, Lymington, and surrounding areas.
Bins and food waste caddies will be delivered to phase 1 residents between 14 April and 6 June 2025.
Councillor Geoffrey Blunden, portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, said: "The introduction of a new waste service marks a significant step in recycling food waste, and modernising how we collect waste. By introducing the new service, we can help to reduce waste that is sent to landfill, improve recycling rates, and contribute to a more sustainable future for our district.
We understand that change can take some getting used to, which is why we're providing clear information and support to help our residents adapt. I encourage everyone to look out for and read their leaflet carefully and make the most of the guidance provided."
