Report a missed collection

If you think we have missed collecting your waste, you can report it here.

This applies to collections of black and clear sacks, garden waste and glass.

Current service disruptions 

We're currently experiencing some disruptions to our waste and recycling services, due to the ongoing situation with driver shortages. 

You can view a statement from Leader of the Council, Cllr Edward Heron, made on 11 October 2021. 

Services are currently operating as follows:

  • general waste and recycling is the priority service and we are continuing to collect black and clear sack waste from the 80,000 household in the district every week
  • garden waste was temporarily paused and reinstated earlier this month on a four-weekly collection schedule. We are currently unable to take on any new customers or offer additional sacks
  • glass collection is continuing but some areas' black box collections may have to be postponed at short notice
  • bulky waste collection is currently suspended
  • clear and black sack deliveries may be running slightly behind schedule but we are working to catch up on any backlog, and in the meantime, you are reminded that you can use any black or clear sack, they do not need to be NFDC sacks

Before making a report

Before reporting a missed collection, check the following:

  • you have put out your waste on the correct collection day
  • your waste was put out on time, in the correct place and in plain view
  • your waste doesn't contain any incorrect items
  • if you have received an advice card explaining why it wasn't collected
  • if bad weather may have delayed your collection.

Do not report your collection as missed until after midday, as your collection crew may still be out collecting. We advise checking to see if your entire street has yet to be collected.

Do not report a collection as missed if you have received an advice card explaining why it wasn't collected as we will not return until your next collection is due.

If you didn't put out your waste correctly, take it back until your next collection day. Alternatively, you can take your rubbish to the tip or to a community recycling bank.

Your collection may have been affected by bad weather, vehicle breakdown or road works. Where we can, we will tell you about this.

Make a report

If you are sure we have missed collecting your household waste, you can report it using the online form below.

Missed collections must be reported before 5pm the next working day. Missed collections that are not reported in this time may not be collected.

You can also make a report by emailing customer.services@nfdc.gov.uk.

When we collect

After you have reported a missed collection, we will send a collection crew. We aim to collect in:

  • one working day for missed black and clear sacks
  • two working days for missed garden waste
  • three working days for missed glass.
