New food waste recycling collections
Once your new waste collections start, we will collect your food waste recycling every week.
Households will get a brown outdoor food waste recycling caddy (23 litre) and a grey indoor food waste recycling caddy (5 litre).
See what your bins and food waste caddies will look like.
If you live in a flat, a property which shares communal bins, or we have assessed your property as unsuitable for wheelie bins, the waste containers you use for the new service may be different.
If this applies to your property, we will write to you with details before the changes are due in your area.

Examples of food waste you can put in your food waste recycling caddy include:
- all uneaten food and plate scrapings

How to use the food waste recycling caddies
Before your new collections are due to start, we will send you a leaflet explaining how to use your caddies.
This will include what food waste you can recycle, and suggestions on how to line your indoor caddy. You will receive this leaflet with your caddy delivery.
The grey indoor caddy is for you to store food waste in your kitchen.
When it's time for your weekly collection or your grey indoor caddy is full, transfer food waste to your brown outdoor caddy or communal bin if you have one.
When we will collect your food waste
Before your new waste collections are due, we will write to you confirming your collection days and start date.
What will happen to your food waste
After we collect your food waste, it will go to an anaerobic digestion facility to create fertiliser and renewable energy.
