Coastal management
New Forest has around 40 miles of coastline, ranging from sandy beaches to saltmarshes and cliffs. Around 90% of it has some form of nature conservation designation and it is host to many important habitats and species. Taking care of the coastline is the responsibility of New Forest District Council, often working in partnership with other parties.

The Strategy is exploring a long term sustainable future for the coast between Hurst Spit and Lymington to respond to climate change and sea level rise.
Christchurch Bay and Harbour Flood and Coastal Erosion Management Strategy
A new Flood and Coastal Erosion Management (FCERM) Strategy to guide how the frontage from Hengistbury Head to Hurst Spit, encompassing Christchurch Harbour, will be sustainably managed for the next 100 years.
