Live Longer Better
The population is getting older and pockets within the New Forest District are above the national average in terms of age.
We want people to enjoy all that the district has to offer, to live a better life for longer, to increase their Healthy Life Expectancy and to increase the length of independent life.
If we want to lead a more active, independent and healthy older age, it is never too early to start.
There are lots of opportunities to make an impact on the conditions that come with aging.
The evidence indicates that being more active can have the biggest impact on health and wellbeing.
The NHS is working to develop services that enable people to age well.
They are aware that prevention and early identification of the conditions that can often be associated with age, is important.
Many of the factors that cause people to age differently can be influenced by lifestyle choices and exercise.
NHS England ยป Ageing well and supporting people living with frailty
This approach is supported by the Live Longer Better campaign which has 3 aims:
1. Increase activity (physical, cognitive and emotional)
2. Increase healthy life expectancy and compress the period of dependency
3. To reduce the need for health and social care.
Being active as we get older can help to lead a longer, more independent life.
