Health professionals advocate that increasing levels of physical activity and decreasing levels of inactivity will have the biggest positive impact on health.
There are a number of ways to be active, from playing formal sport to enjoying informal activity or walking and riding for fun or travel.
General fitness
Freedom Leisure manage 5 health and leisure centres in the New Forest on the district council's behalf.
Energise Me is a Hampshire charity that champions active lives. They manage the Hampshire Activity Finder providing information on ways to be active locally.
Gang Warily is a Recreation & Community Centre managed by Fawley Parish Council.
Cycle routes
Working with the New Forest National Park and Forestry England we have identified a number of cycle routes around the district. These routes are on cycle paths, quiet roads, and designated tracks.
These routes may sometimes be closed due to forestry operations, the drift, or other essential work.

Walking
The New Forest Healthy Walks scheme encourages people of all ages to join regular short walks in their community.
They are friendly, free and led by trained volunteers.
