Damaged, lost, or stolen bins

What to do if your bin is damaged

If your bin is damaged whilst we are collecting your garden waste, we will log this and provide you with a replacement bin before your next scheduled garden waste collection.

We will leave a yellow hanger on your bin explaining this.

Please make sure your damaged bin is visible for our staff, so we can take it away when we provide the replacement bin.

If your garden waste bin has been damaged for another reason and you need a replacement, please email customer.services@nfdc.gov.uk

When emailing customer services to report a damaged bin, please include:

  • your name and address (include the address registered for garden waste collections)
  • details of the damage to the bin
  • any photos of the damage, this will help us to investigate and resolve the issue

What to do if your bin is lost or stolen

Before reporting a lost or stolen bin, please check the area surrounding your property.

To prevent your bin from being stolen, remember to add your property name or number to the front of your bin. To do this, we recommend using a permanent marker, or something similar.

To report a lost or stolen bin, please email customer.services@nfdc.gov.uk with the following information:

  • your name and address (include the address registered for garden waste collections)
  • how many bins have been lost or stolen
  • when you noticed the bin(s) were lost or stolen

Cost of replacement garden waste bins

Unless we are responsible for the damage to your garden waste bin, there is a replacement fee of £25 per bin. This covers administration and delivery costs.

For more information, please view terms and conditions for our garden waste collection service.

If you have any questions, please email customer.services@nfdc.gov.uk or call 023 8028 5391.
