How we keep your home safe

Council properties are independently inspected for fire safety.

Our fire risk assessment page explains this process in more detail.

Fire safety assessments

Independent fire safety assessors conduct annual risk reviews of our extra care, age restricted and temporary accommodation properties.

General needs properties are conducted every 3 years with an annual internal review.

Building safety inspections

Our building safety officers carry out periodic checks on our blocks.

They will carry out weekly fire alarm tests, check escape routes, identify any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns.

They will report any issues where items have been stored or left in common escape routes and we will ask for these items to be removed.

They will also inspect all communal fire doors for condition.

All checks are recorded.

As well as building safety officer visits, the following fire safety maintenance is carried out in our blocks:

  • fire alarms tested and serviced every 6 months
  • emergency lighting checked monthly
