Garden Waste Privacy Notice

This privacy notice is designed to help you understand how the Council processes your personal data when you sign up to the Council's garden waste subscription service. 

This privacy notice supplements the key information in, and should be read alongside, the Council's corporate privacy notice. 

Who are we? 

The Waste Service at the Council is responsible for providing refuse and recycling services and collections across the district.   

One of the services we provide is a paid for garden waste subscription service which includes the fortnightly collection of garden waste from properties. 

Whose personal data do we process? 

We will process the personal data of residents who subscribe to the garden waste service. 

What type of personal data do we process? 

The personal data we process may include: 

Contact information including name, address, telephone number, email address. 

Financial information to administer payment.  

We will not process special categories of personal data. 

Why do we process personal data? 

We need to process your personal data to enable you to sign up to the garden waste service and so that we can provide the garden waste service collection to you.   

Where do we get your personal data from? 

Your personal data is provided by you to the Council directly via the online portal, in person or by telephone.  

Who do we share your personal data with? 

To enable the delivery of the garden waste scheme the Council uses a data processor, Bartec Municipal Technologies , to provide the software used to manage the collection service and subscriptions. 

We have an agreement in place to ensure that Bartec Municipal Technologies keeps your personal data secure.  We do not allow our third party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions. 

What is the legal basis for using your personal data? 

We rely on the following lawful basis to process personal data for the garden waste service: 

• Contract: The processing of your personal data is necessary for a contract you have with the Council, or in preparation for entering into a contract with the Council.
