Communications Privacy Notice (enews)
The Communications team at New Forest District Council is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. For the purpose of the 2018 General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Controller is New Forest District Council ('the Council'), Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, Hampshire SO43 7PA (data.controller@nfdc.gov.uk ) .
The Communications team operates an email service providing residents with news and updates relevant to the district and important information in times of emergencies.
When you sign up to receive residents emails (enews) we will ask you for certain personal information in order to be able to send the emails. Some of this information will need to be recorded and stored on our systems. This Privacy Notice aims to explain:

What kind of personal data we process
When you sign up to receive enews, we will collect your email address.
How we use your data
We use your information to process your service request; to be added to a database of enews recipients.
How we store your data
The information we collect is stored on the Council's secure IT system.
We will retain the personal data until you unsubscribe, or we receive an email delivery failure notice.
Why we process your data
We need to process your data in order to provide you with the services that you are requesting, or to provide services that are in the public interest. For example, to inform you of newsworthy events, or to work with you in times of emergency incidents.
When and why we share your information
We do not share the email database with anyone else.
What are the legal grounds for processing your information?
The Council is relying on the lawful basis of consent when using your personal data for the purposes of enews. You can withdraw your consent by unsubscribing from the enews service at any time (by clicking on the link at the foot of every email or by contacting eNews@NFDC.GOV.UK).
