Temporary pavement licences
Through the Business and Planning Act 2020, and subsequent legislation, the Government introduced a streamlined process which allows businesses to secure a licence to place temporary furniture, such as tables and chairs, outside cafes to support them in operating safely.
We do not charge a fee for the licence and we will endeavour to determine the application within 14 days, during which time we will consult with relevant parties.
The licence will be valid until 30 September 2023 unless there is a reason for granting it for a shorter time period. The application form you need to complete can be found below.

Please ensure you submit all of the required documents with the application form to avoid any delays in processing.
Once you have submitted an application you are required to display a public notice for 7 days. A template notice can be found below.
