Pay business rates and applying for a refund
You can pay your business rates through several methods. You will normally pay in monthly instalments.

Pay by Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your business rates. It is simple, quick, safe and you don't need to remember to pay.
You can spread your payments over ten monthly instalments. There is a choice of two payment dates on either the 1st or 15th of each month.
To set up a Direct Debit for your business rates payment, use the online form below.
Pay your business rates by Direct Debit
There is an option to arrange payment over 12 months rather than 10 months. This will slightly reduce the amount paid for each instalment, but the annual total will remain the same. To arrange this, email nndr@nfdc.gov.uk

Pay online
You can make payments for your business rates online.
You will need your business rates account number, which is an eight-digit number starting with 30. This can be found on the top right hand side of your business rates bill. You will also need to provide your bank details.

Pay by phone
You can make payments for your business rates over the phone, using your debit or credit card.
You will need your Business Rates account number, which is an eight digit number starting with 30. This can be found on the top right hand side of your Business Rates bill.

Pay by banking
You can arrange to make payments for business rates via your bank or building society. These can offer various methods, including:
- standing order
- online banking
- paying in person at a branch of your bank or building society.
You will need your business rates account number, which is an eight-digit number starting with 30. This can be found on the top right hand side of your business rates bill.
You will also need to provide the council's bank account details, which is where you will send your payments. Use the details below when paying your business rates.
