Woodlands

We own over 18 hectares of woodland, which is open for the public to visit and enjoy.

We maintain our woods to:

  • sustain biodiversity
  • support the local ecosystem
  • provide green corridors to and from the open forest for our wildlife.

Much of our woodland has laid paths to aid access, so you can explore nature on your doorstep.

We manage these spaces in line with local risk assessments. We do not always remove our dead wood, as it provides a home to insects and other native wildlife.

We only carry out work to woodland trees that have health and safety implications.

All trees on council land and public open space woodlands are inspected regularly, but if you see an issue or have a concern, you can report it to us.
