Cooling towers

Businesses with control of premises with a wet cooling tower or evaporative condenser must notify us with details of the installation.

This is required under The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992.

The main purposes for the notification process are to:

• identify where potential sources of risk of Legionella are located
• allow for easier identification, monitoring and inspection by us should the need arise.

You can register a cooling tower or evaporative condenser on your premises using the online form below.

You must notify us of any changes to the notification information within one month of the change.

You must also advise us if the cooling tower or evaporative condenser ceases to be a notifiable device.

Public register  

We are required to maintain a public register of premises containing cooling towers or evaporative condensers.

Enforcement of standards of assessment and control for the premises listed below rests with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for all except Tesco premises.
