Assisted collections for household waste
If you are unable to put out your household waste to the edge of your property due to a disability, illness or injury, you can request an assisted collection.
Our assisted collection service can be used to pick up different types of waste from your home, including:
We will collect your waste from your doorstep, or a location agreed with us, on your normal collection day.
We cannot collect bulky household waste through the assisted collection service.
Request an assisted collection
Assisted collections are only available to residents who have either a temporary or long-term disability, illness or injury that prevents them from taking their waste to the edge of their property.
Assisted collections are only available where there is no one else in your household to help put out your waste for collection.
If you think you qualify for an assisted collection, you can make a request using the online form below.
We will contact you on an annual basis to confirm whether you still need the assisted collection service.
You can download our Assisted Collections Privacy Notice below.

What to do on collection day
Leave your waste by your front door, or at the location agreed with us, by 6am on your collection day and we will remove it.
Make sure you have put the correct materials in the correct bag, sack or box that has been supplied by us. You must put your:
- rubbish in black plastic sacks
- recycling in clear plastic sacks
- glass bottle or jars in a black box
- garden waste in a reusable green bag.
Bank holidays
Assisted collections will still take place over the Easter and summer bank holidays.
Some changes are made to waste collection days at Christmas and New Year. You will still receive an assisted collection, but this may be on a different day to your normal collection day. Changes will be published on the find my collection day page at the beginning of December. Details will also be printed on your black sacks, and published in the local press and on social media.
