Celebrating success in achieving our corporate plan priorities
2 April 2025
We have reported on our latest significant progress in meeting key targets outlined in our Corporate Plan.
A comprehensive review of our Corporate Plan, presented in a performance report at the Cabinet meeting on 2 April 2025, highlights achievements in delivering essential priorities for people, place, and prosperity throughout the first three-quarters of 2024.
This ongoing success underscores our commitment to fostering a vibrant and thriving community, ensuring sustainable development, and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
Homelessness prevention measures have remained strong, and the number of families in emergency accommodation has decreased.
Safety and compliance management measures continue to perform well, averaging at 97.7% compliance across five standards. These measures ensure tenants have safe and well-maintained properties and include important safety checks to properties, such as gas, fire, and water.
Investment in CCTV has increased, with 17 new cameras installed and 10 more planned.
The council's garden waste service is performing well, while fly-tipping levels have remained consistently lower than target and decreased in quarter 3 (October to December 2024).
The number of visitors and residents using the council's water refill stations has increased, with the equivalent of 25,598 0.5 litre bottles being filled up until quarter 3 (December 2024) preventing plastic waste from single use bottles.
Financially, the council remains in a good position, with Council Tax and business rates collection meeting targets.
Recruitment efforts have been highly successful, with 45 vacancies filled on the first attempt in the last quarter.
While the overarching focus of the Corporate Plan remains unchanged, NFDC has undertaken a review to assess which projects should proceed as planned, and which may require a revised approach in the context of Local Government Reorganisation.
Cllr Jill Cleary, Leader of New Forest District Council, said: "While we are mindful of the changes that local government reorganisation may bring, we remain focused on doing what is right for our communities. This means pressing ahead with key projects that will benefit our area, while ensuring that all activities are considered in the context and timescale of potential changes to local government structures.
"This performance report highlights the real progress we are making in delivering our Corporate Plan priorities. We are seeing strong performance in key areas that directly impact our residents, from preventing homelessness and improving safety to maintaining our strong financial position. There are always areas where we can do more, but overall, we are in a strong position as we move into the second year of our Corporate Plan."
