What garden waste we collect

We can collect:

  • grass cuttings
  • hedge and shrub clippings
  • weeds and flowers
  • leaves and twigs
  • small branches, up to 75mm diameter
  • Christmas trees (chopped up, your bin lid must fully close)

We cannot collect:

  • food, including any food waste such as windfall, or fruit and vegetable peelings
  • invasive weeds, such as Japanese Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam
  • soil, rubble, concrete, stones
  • animal waste and bedding
  • plastic bags, pots, trays

We take your garden waste to a composting site in Hampshire. The garden waste is composted using a process known as open windrow composting. The composting results in Pro-Grow, a high-quality soil conditioner that is available to buy at every tip in Hampshire, also known as Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
