How and when to put your bin out
On this page:
When we will collect your garden waste
We will collect your garden waste every 2 weeks.
There are no garden waste collections over Christmas and New Year, from Monday 23 December 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025.
To check when we will collect your garden waste, log in to your online garden waste account, if you have created one
If you do not have an account and need help setting one up, please email customer.services@nfdc.gov.uk or call 023 8028 5391.
What to do on collection day
On your collection day, please have your bin(s) out at the edge of your property by 6am, unless otherwise agreed with us.
In some situations, we may ask for a household to leave their bin(s) behind their gate. To make sure collections are safe, we cannot cross a cattle grid to collect bin(s) or any other containers.
We will not be able to collect your bin if:
- your bin lid cannot fully close
- your bin is too heavy for our staff to move safely, the maximum weight is 45kg
- wrong items are in the bin, check what garden waste we collect
- your bin is damaged, lost, or stolen
We can only collect what fits in your garden waste bin. Garden waste left next to your bin will not be collected.
Assisted collections, help putting your bins out
If you are unable to put out your household waste to the edge of your property due to a disability, illness or injury, or another issue, you can request an assisted collection.
