Golden ticket
When you receive your food waste caddy, look inside for a chance to win a golden ticket.
We're placing 5 golden waste tickets randomly in caddies when they are delivered. They will be delivered to different areas of the district at different times:
- phase 1 area - 14 April to 6 June 2025
- phase 2 area - 23 August to 13 October 2025
- phase 3 area - 19 January to 9 March 2026
You can find out which phase you are in using your postcode.
Winners in phase 1 can choose from the following prizes:
- a year's garden waste collection
- a family ticket to the New Forest and Hampshire County Show 2025
- a compost bin or water butt
- a bulky waste collection
- £50 donation to the chairman's charity
What to do if you have found a golden ticket
If you find a golden ticket, email waste.changes@nfdc.gov.uk or call 023 8028 5393 to claim your prize.
You will need the unique reference number printed on your ticket.
If the prize is not claimed, a £50 donation will be made to the chairman's charity.
Prizes for phase 2 and phase 3 will be added to our website before the promotion period begins for each phase.
Golden ticket terms and conditions
1. This incentive is open to all residents who receive a food waste caddy as part of New Forest District Council's (The Promoter) rollout for new waste collections. A total of 15 prizes are available across all phase areas. 5 tickets will be randomly allocated to properties in each phase whilst food waste caddies are being delivered:
- Phase 1: 14 April to 6 June 2025
- Phase 2: 25 August to 13 October 2025
- Phase 3: 19 January to 9 March 2026
2. No purchase is necessary to claim a prize.
3. A winner will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process.
4. The prize draw will be promoted on our website, residents email service, and on our social media channels.
5. Winners will be asked to choose one prize from the available options printed on the ticket. Prize options may vary for each phase depending on availability. No exchanges or cash alternatives are available.
6. This prize incentive is open to all NFDC residents aged 16 years or over.
7. Employees of NFDC, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this promotion are excluded from entering the prize draw.
8. Entries must be claimed by the following date for residents in each phase area:
- Phase 1: 7 July 2025
- Phase 2: 12 November 2025
- Phase 3: 8 April 2026
If the prize is not claimed by the deadline, it will be forfeited. Entries submitted outside the promotion period will not be considered.
9. To claim the selected prize from the options available, winners of the golden ticket are asked to email waste.changes@nfdc.gov.uk or call 023 8028 5393 and quote the unique reference number on the ticket. This instruction is printed on the ticket.
10. To obtain details of the winner please email communications@nfdc.gov.uk stating the name of the competition in the subject heading within 4 weeks after the closing dates.
11. By entering the competition all entrants consent to the use of their personal data (name and address) by the Promoter for the purposes of the administration of the draw and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
12. The winner may be requested to take part in reasonable post event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity.
13. The Promoter may disqualify any entrant whose entry does not comply with these terms and conditions in the Promoter's sole opinion. Or any entrant who, in Promoter's sole determination, has acted in a manner that is fraudulent, dishonest or unjust to other entrants including, without limitation, tampering with the operation of the prize draw, manipulating or rigging votes, hacking, deceiving, cheating or by harassing or threatening other entrants or a representative of the Promoter.
14. NFDC's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding ticket allocation
15. By entering the prize draw each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
16. New Forest District Council has the right to withdraw this competition at any time.
17. The promoter is New Forest District Council.
Prize options
Winners can select one prize only from the options available.
Phase 1:
A year's garden waste collection:
- Garden waste collections will be valid for 1 year from the agreed start date. At the end of this 1-year period, collections will not auto renew.
- For new garden waste customers, New Forest District Council will also provide a bin free of charge (usually £30) to the customer for collections. This bin does/does not need to be returned at the end of the year of collections
- The service covers one wheelie bin for a year's garden waste collections.
- For existing garden waste customers who have already renewed their subscription for a year, this can be carried forward to the next subscription year.
A family ticket to the New Forest and Hampshire County Show 2025:
- A family ticket allows entry for 2 adults and up to 3 children
- The ticket is a 1-day ticket which can be used for a single day on any of the 3 days of the event (29 July, 30 July, 31 July)
A compost bin or water butt:
- Delivered to your property
One bulky waste collection (valid for a year):
- Covers one item for a bulky waste collection

£50 donation to the Chairman's charity:
- Information about what the charity will be confirmed when you claim your prize
- This will be the default prize if there is no response by 7 July
