Christmas Rubbish and Recycling Collections 2020-21

Over the Christmas and New Year holidays, there are changes to the collection days for household rubbish, recycling and glass. Collections of garden waste are suspended between 21 December 2020 and 3 January 2021.

We also set up drop-off points where you can leave your Christmas tree to be recycled.

This Christmas collection information only applies to the Christmas and New Year holidays for 2020-21.

Information on Christmas collection days will be available at our Information Offices, in the local press and posted on social media. Christmas collection days for sacks and glass boxes will be printed on the black rubbish sacks.

For more information, a Christmas Refuse and Recycling Leaflet will be available to download here.

Rubbish and recycling collections

These collections take away your black rubbish sack and clear recycling sack.

Put all your greetings cards, sweet and biscuit tins, and cardboard packaging into your clear recycling sack.

Put gift wrapping paper into your black rubbish sack. The majority of wrapping paper cannot be recycled because it is a mixture of paper, plastic and/or foil.

Refer to the table below to find out your Christmas collection day for household rubbish and household recycling.

Christmas tree drop-off points

You can recycle your Christmas tree by leaving it at a selected drop-off point. The collected trees will be chipped and used as mulch.

This service is for real trees only, not artificial trees.

Remove all decorations from the tree before taking it to a drop-off point. Leave trees in the designated areas only.

Refer to the table below for drop-off point locations. These will be open in January 2021, dates to be confirmed.
