Building control

Building control provides services and information about everything related to building and construction work. Before you start any building project, contact us for support and advice.

On advice from the government regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), the building control team continue to work from home and can be contacted in the normal manner.

Applications continue to be registered (however we would prefer your application is made electronically).

You must still notify us for any inspection where indicated on your site inspection plan issued following the commencement inspection.

Please ensure you leave a phone number so we can call you to confirm whether we are able to visit.

At this time, we may accept alternative evidence instead of a site visit, but this will be discussed during any telephone communication.

Our services

We offer a wide range of services and expertise, including the following:

  • competent pre-application advice and guidance
  • professionally qualified and experienced surveyors
  • competitive non-profit fees
  • unrivalled expertise across the full range of project types
  • part of a network of local authority building control surveyors throughout England and Wales
  • knowledge of local conditions and close relationships with other local organisations, such as the fire and rescue service.

We will work closely with you to help you achieve building regulations approval from the start. Our surveyors will integrate themselves as part of your team. This may only involve you and your builder for small projects, or a wide team of professionals on larger commercial projects.
