Safeguarding vulnerable children and adults

We provide a varied range of services and functions which can bring employees, members, volunteers and contractors into contact with children, young people and adults at risk.

We have a legal and moral duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.

This duty extends to the identification of harm, abuse or poor practice by employees, Members, volunteers and contractors, as well as allegations brought to the attention of the council by a member of the public.

We also need to protect all council representatives from potential false allegations of abuse.

The policy covers four separate but closely related topics:

  • child safeguarding
  • adult safeguarding
  • domestic abuse
  • prevent.

The Safeguarding Policy and Procedures sets out our legal duties and outlines the procedures that should be followed to report any safeguarding concern. You can download this document below.
