The New Forest District Council is one of the largest non-unitary authorities in the UK, covering approximately 260 sq. miles. There are 172,000 residents and 16 million visitors annually. The forest area was designated a National Park in 2005 which is testament to the outstanding natural beauty of this part of the world.
Unusually for a National Park, almost half of the land is in public ownership.
Outside of the National Park area there are a number of large towns and villages, as well as some beautiful beaches. Southampton, Winchester and Bournemouth are on our doorstep offering good shopping and recreational facilities. There are also great schools and colleges within the New Forest area. All in all we think this is an excellent place to live.
