Essential Maintenance & Refurbishment work

Latest update on the refurbishment project - Dated 10 October 2014

Poolside
The pools will reopen for public swimming on Saturday 15 November and Swim Academy will start week beginning Monday 17 November.  We have been working with the contractors to get the pools open for swimmers as soon as possible and the tiling of both the pools and poolside area is now complete.  The pools need three weeks to dry before water filling and heating can start - this will take another two weeks.  New pool windows have now been fitted and these will improve our energy efficiency considerably.

Swimming times for the weekend of Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November are; 7.30am - 2.45pm public swimming and 3.00pm to 4.00pm Inflatable fun swim.  Come and join in the fun!

All Academy classes will start back on week commencing Monday 17 November - look out for Harry to welcome you back on the red carpet and Mums and Dads come and join us in the cafe for a free cuppa.

Wet Changing Village
The wet change has been painted throughout and is looking very smart.  New hairdryers have been installed and additional benches have been added to the accessible toilets - this will increase changing areas and ease congestion at busy times.  The toilets and shower areas are going through a programme of deep cleaning and we have also scheduled a minor refurbishment to Reflections, our sauna and steam area, ready for the pool re-opening.

New Weights Room
The new Weights Room, on the ground floor of the building, can now be accessed by the internal staircase at the back of the main gym, allowing customers to link their workout with ease.  Initial feedback on the equipment and layout is good and we welcome your ideas and suggestions for improvements.  New signage has been ordered and we still have a few finishing touches but we are really pleased with how it is all looking.  Users are reminded to put away weights after use and keep the room clear and safe for fellow users.

New Spin Studio
The new Spin Studio is now located upstairs within the main gym area.  It is not only used for classes but can also be accessed any time the gym is open, to complement your workout.  When attending spin classes please use the door at the top of the back staircase.

  • Brand new bikes have arrived and the initial feedback is good.
  • New lighting enhances the ambience of the class and can be adjusted to a variety of different sequences.
  • A new projector and DVD player allows you to go for a virtual spin to the top of Mont Ventoux or the Col du Galibier.
  • A water cooler is available in the room for your convenience.
  • Window frosting has been fitted to decorate the large windows and offer a degree of privacy .
  • A new air conditioning unit has been installed including new air extractor units.

Studios
Studio 1 is now our main aerobic studio.  The majority of the group fitness programmes will take place in this room.  There is a new water cooler in the corridor for your convenience and seating to use whilst you wait for your class or your children attending their club sessions.

New dimmer switches for the lights have been fitted to aid the relaxation and set the mood in our mind body classes.

The new customer access equipment store has been constructed - this will allow you to collect your own hand weights, mats etc.

Brand new Life Fitness equipment has now been installed in our gym which is looking fantastic.  For the majority of our customers, the transition to the new equipment has gone really well.  If however, any of you are uncertain about using the new equipment or LF Connect (Smartphone technology) for your programmes and workouts, please talk to one of the Fitness Instructors.  Alternatively, you can book onto a free mini induction for an introduction to the new equipment.
