We are now taking bookings for bulky waste collection

To ensure the safety of our staff, some changes have been made to the service:

  • Do not call to book a collection if you have Coronavirus, or symptoms of Coronavirus
  • If possible, leave items outside your home for 72 hours before collection
  • We cannot collect soft furnishings, such as sofas, mattresses and armchairs until further notice
  • Please do not approach our staff when they come to collect your item

Bulky household waste collection

We offer a chargeable bulky household waste collection service for large or bulky items that cannot be donated or reused elsewhere.

Booking a collection

Step 1 -   Check the list below to see if we can accept your item, remember we cannot currently accept soft furnished items:

Washing machines
Fridges and freezers (excluding American-style double fridge freezers)
Internal doors


Soft furnished items including mattresses, sofas, armchairs and carpet

Electric beds
Armchairs with an electric motor
Double fridge freezers (American style)
Loft insulation

These items can be taken to the household waste recycling centre

Step 2 - Read carefully the information below to make sure this is the right collection service for your item.

Information about the household bulky waste collection service

How much does it cost?

The collection of one item will cost £30.00. Each additional item (up to a maximum of eight items) will cost £7.50.

For example, the collection of a single bed base with a chest of drawers will cost £37.50

Residents in receipt of certain benefits can apply for one free collection of up to 3 items, in any one financial year (April - March). Please call customer services on 023 8028 5000 for more information.

Collection days

You will be informed of your collection day at the time of booking. We will book the first available appointment; however, this will be in accordance with our current policy of leaving items outside for 72 hours 

Adding items to an existing booking

Once a booking is made you can request to add items. If space is available on the same vehicle this will be charged at £7.50 per item. If space is not available on the same vehicle the items will be processed as a new booking.


Refunds will only be considered if the cancellation is made within 48 hours of the original booking. Cancellations made after 48 hours will not be refunded. All requests for a refund need to be made in writing to

General points to follow:

  • Items must be located at the front of the property and easily accessible (e.g. in front garden, driveway)
  • The collection team are not permitted to enter your home or garage areas to pick up items
  • Please do not approach our operatives when they arrive to collect your item
  • Please ensure your items do not contain other rubbish
  • If there are two identical items left on site, but only one was booked, neither will be taken


Step 3 - To book a bulky waste collection, call customer services on 023 8028 5000. Payment must be made at the time of booking and can be done by credit/debit card.
