Public Conveniences

The council owns 25 public conveniences throughout the district.

The toilets are open all year round with the exception of the Barton Beach facility, which is closed from October to April. All the facilities that are open all year round have a facility for the disabled and the majority have baby changing facilities.

They are cleaned at least once a day all year except Christmas Day. During the summer period the most frequently-used facilities are cleaned twice a day.

The council recognises that for many visitors the condition of our toilets can leave a lasting impression and is often the first indication of what sort of authority we are. It is for this reason that we have embarked on a programme for refurbishing or rebuilding some of our toilets. To date the toilets that have been recently rebuilt are Lyndhurst, Milford-on-Sea and Calshot Car Park.

Disabled facilities are kept locked using the RADAR key scheme. If you are registered disabled these keys can be obtained free of charge from the information offices or by contacting customer services on 023 8028 5000 or online.

Our aim is to provide facilities that are safe, clean and in good working order. If you feel that any of our facilities do not achieve this aim please let us know.

Community Toilet Scheme

New Forest Access for All and the New Forest National Park Authority have been working with local businesses to develop a community toilet scheme. Businesses who are part of the scheme allow visitors to use their toilet facilities without needing to buy anything, making it easier for people with mobility difficulties to explore the New Forest.
