Get Inspired New Forest careers fair held

A New Forest District Council sponsored 'Get Inspired New Forest' careers fair was held for the first time on 27 June, attended by over 250 students.

The interactive careers fair, organised by EBP South took place at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, with the aim of promoting the range of career opportunities available locally.

Our Economic Development service, along with 28 businesses, attended with activities to inspire young people into the different locally available careers.

Matt Callaghan,  Economic Development Manager said; "The main goal of our stand was to promote the variety of job opportunities that exist in the New Forest, not just with us at the council but throughout the district.

"We had some thought-provoking conversations as a lot of the students believed that careers such as video game designers and chemical engineers were not available here, when actually all are available from local employers. And at the council we employ to a huge range of job roles, including horticulturalists, lifeguards, LGV drivers, coastal scientists, accountants, and river wardens, to name a few."

Suzanne Lewis, EBP South Project Manager said; 'Get Inspired are essential events that give young people the opportunity to connect to the world of work and gain meaningful encounters with employers where they can understand the different careers and skills needed for them. Young people are able to see the jobs that match their strengths, or they enjoy, which could be their future job role."

The events are free for schools to attend and take place across Hampshire.
