Severe weather - information for staff

All services operating as usual.

Offices/services expected to operate as usual.  Please check travel/road conditions locally and only travel if safe to do so. 

Scheduled refuse and recycling collections expected to continue as normal today.  Residents being asked to put / leave out sacks for collection as usual. 

Glass and garden waste - if we miss a collection today residents advised to leave out and we will collect in the next few days.

The Housing Maintenance team are likely to be very busy today with calls which may result in repair requests being prioritised to assist our most vulnerable residents.

There is expected to be snowfall this afternoon, leading to travel disruption. Offices and depots will be closed at 3pm.   Only essential services and minimum cover will continue.

Office based staff  - please leave the offices now

Agree with your manager individual arrangements but if you are able to work from home or take flexi / make up the hours, please do so.  

  • Routine appointments are being cancelled by services (in line with their business continuity plans) and leisure centres are considering their opening arrangements.
  • Refuse and recycling will decide later if there is any impact on their ability to do the rounds. 
  • With more snowfall forecast for the morning, if you have meetings scheduled for tomorrow please consider if it is appropriate to cancel / reschedule them.    
  • If the buildings have to be closed on Friday staff will be advised by email if in-hours, and text message (if already registered) and on this webpage http://www.newforest.gov.uk/article/18201   
  • Customers will be advised via the website and social media. 

Managers - please advise your staff of this message, especially if they are non-pc based.

Although the weather forecast changes often, we are being advised that heavy snow is 90% likely in the district, followed by freezing rain, with likelihood of travel disruption.
