Case study - Senior Auditor

Senior Auditor Naomi  'When I left college I had a university offer and was looking into student finance when a 1 year accountancy apprenticeship came up at New Forest District Council. I ultimately chose the apprenticeship because it offered the opportunity to learn, gain hands on experience whilst studying and to avoid student debts.

Near the end of my apprenticeship an Audit Assistant position came up - I applied and got the job. The Council has continued to support my studies and I have since gained AAT Accountant status (MAAT) and I'm currently studying for a chartered accountant qualification.

I now hold the role of Senior Auditor at the Council, and last year I was given the opportunity to manage a new apprentice within the Audit team.

The decision to accept the apprenticeship with New Forest District Council was the best choice I could have made; I love my job, I get to work with awesome people and I have gained invaluable experience with no student debt!'
